Ava starts preschool on Tuesday. That's freakin' me out. We had a blast in SoCal for spring break. Visited the fam, the Glausers, Disneyland, the Wests and had a crazy drive home. Now, we've got Ross and Lacey's wedding in about 2 weeks and our ward can't find our records so we can get our temple recommends. Really....I got a new cut and color. LOVE IT!!! Ryan changed his major. We're planning some major changes in our lives, but want to double check with the head honcho first. These knees are getting mighty sore because of all of the asking. Wish us luck!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8105387869336793889.post-68959720658189723272010-02-28T14:50:00.000-08:002010-02-28T15:04:15.496-08:00new fave...Blog!!! My bishops wife told me about Knock Off Wood. Bestest ever! It's on my blog list...check it out. It definitely makes attempting your own furniture building less intimidating.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8105387869336793889.post-75673730921827651132010-02-23T11:02:00.001-08:002010-02-23T11:04:10.403-08:00Moving again...We found out we are able to get into on campus family housing as of April 16th, so we will be moving...again. It'll be a good move for us, as the new place includes all utilities and is $150 less monthly. So we are estimating a savings of about $400 per month! But we will have less storage space, less space overall and one less room. Sacrifice brings blessings, right!?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8105387869336793889.post-18145928546691382312009-12-31T20:39:00.001-08:002009-12-31T20:42:37.753-08:00The weather outside is frightful...The snow is SOOOO delightful. We were able to take the kids to BYUI today and go sledding. Ava had a blast. Teegan was tired, so, he just sat in a daze as the snow blew into his little cold face! Unfortunately, we forgot our camera. But not to worry....it's still snowing, so there will be more photo ops.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8105387869336793889.post-86321090945900687922009-11-12T19:45:00.000-08:002009-11-12T19:47:13.094-08:00Snowing!!!We came out of the local library this evening and it was snowing! As in, our car was COVERED within 20 minutes. Holy smokes! Well, this certainly isn't California! We do like it though. It's nice in it's own way.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8105387869336793889.post-62068080327719027132009-09-12T21:23:00.000-07:002009-09-12T21:24:48.137-07:00FRUSTRATED!!!I am looking for housing in Rexburg and getting SO FRUSTRATED!!! People aren't even responding to my emails when I say that I'm in California and relocating. When I leave out that little detail, they reply....the same listings! Argh! Any suggestions?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8105387869336793889.post-91628407908641517652009-09-02T12:54:00.001-07:002009-09-02T12:58:02.135-07:00Big Things!!!We have so much going on right now! And we are dang excited about it! Firstly, as you all know, we are moving to Idaho via Utah. We still don't know where we are going to live or if we're going to work or not while Ryan attends BYU-I, but we're excited to get going with life. Secondly, I am getting ready to launch an online business making and selling cloth diapers and wool covers. I am SUUUUUPER excited about this! I am very passionate about cloth diapering and the pants, shorts and soakers are A-freakin'-mazing! (if I do say so myself.) Just wanted to share the fun stuff and keep people in the loop! Oh yeah....my website is ekologybaby.com...check it out!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8105387869336793889.post-39489187610856839232009-08-23T15:00:00.000-07:002009-08-23T15:02:10.188-07:00What an Idiot!Me...seriously! I have been referring to my kids on facebook as A & T...as in T &A. Hello...what parent does that?! Why in the world didn't we catch that one when we were worried about possible nicknames and possibilities for being teased?! Steven Freebairn pointed this one out to Ryan at church this morning. So nice...the bishops son has to point this out to us!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8105387869336793889.post-69571390258032371472009-08-20T22:52:00.001-07:002009-08-20T22:52:23.594-07:00INSOMNIA SUCKSI am so frustrated! I can't sleep! So, I might as well be a blogger, right?! Anyway...as of today, my family is completely outfit for the snow! Boots, jackets, pants...check! Snowsuits for the kiddies...check! A way for all of us to move that we can afford....hmmmm. I'll have to work on that one. Anyway...Just had some time to kill...night all.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8105387869336793889.post-64360800469505532982009-08-18T11:39:00.000-07:002009-08-18T11:42:39.360-07:00Moving on the mindSo, we basically are gearing up for moving to Idaho in November. I am SUPER nervous. I've never lived anywhere but Sonoma County and now I'm moving in the middle of winter to Idaho. I'm not quite sure what I've signed up for. Anyway, Ava is excited to be able to go to school, so is Ryan. Teegan and I will just freeze our fannies off! Anyway, We are in the process of taking pictures of everything and posting them to our blog. I had to buy an external hard drive because we had 32 mb available on the laptop...I couldn't even transfer the pictures I had taken of things to sell! Anyway...dejunking is good for us, but I am having VERY mixed emotions. Happy, sad, excited, nervous...you get the idea. Anyway...that's just what's been on my mind!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8105387869336793889.post-90095487259355879922009-08-15T15:33:00.000-07:002009-08-15T15:39:27.618-07:00Idaho or BustFor those of you who don't know yet, Ryan has been accepted at BYU-Idaho for the Winter/Spring track. We start school in the beginning of January and will be in school in Idaho through July. At this point we are planning on moving out at Thanksgiving because we are going to be in Utah anyway for Sprout's blessing. (BTW, R&J, I think Oscar might be ok...oldish sounding, not ending in an an, in, or en, or on for that matter, and doesn't sound weird with Mann....in my opinion...) Anyway, so if any of you know of a place to live in the metropolis of Rexburg, please pass along the info. Also, if you know of anyone out in Santa Rosa that is looking for a month to month rental, or a room on a month to month basis, we will be renting out our house when we leave. We also have a new blog called Idaho or Bust that we will be posting our stuff that we are selling, so check it out, have friends check it out and whatnot...thanks all!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8105387869336793889.post-58202205530314999012009-08-08T21:06:00.000-07:002009-08-08T22:02:04.917-07:00Cloth Diaper Lovin'So, this is per Rachelle's request.

I have been delving into the cloth diaper world with great gusto! And LOVING IT!!!! I really like the sustainability of cloth diapering and it works for our family.

We started CDing Ava when she was about 18 months old. We started out using Bumgenius 3.0 one size diapers with polyester microfiber inserts (came with the dipes) and we were quite happy. After a while, the liners began to retain STINKY odors and we had to "strip" the diapers using a little bleach, some VERY hot water and dawn liquid dish soap. We originally tried oxyclean. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS. It ruins the elastic and makes the diapers even stinkier because it is super difficult to rinse completely out. This process was both time consuming and frustrating because I was washing diapers all day some days because of the washing instructions for BG. You wash cold, rinse cold, wash hot, rinse hot. Using 1/4 to 1/2 the manufacturers recommended amount of detergent. You also can only use specific detergents because of the synthetic fibers in the inner and liners. Too much hassle.

With Teegan, we CD'd from the start, also used BG OS and thought, "well, this is ok for us". Problem was, I was now washing like 40 diapers every couple of days...it was taking nearly 2 days if I forgot to switch diapers or restart the load right away. So, my dear friend introducted me to www.diaperswappers.com and I am addicted! It's a great place to buy, sell and trade your used cloth diapers. So, I sold off some BG and purchased some prefolds (these are the old skool dipes with the thick centers that most people use for burp cloths...only WAAAAY better than the one's Gerber makes and sells), pins and a couple of slightly used wool Aristocrats covers. We were doing ok, I didn't have enough covers for 2 kids though and I ended up resorting back to BG frequently, especially because Ryan is VERY resistant to change. Well, I kept acquiring (that's what we call them) in woolies: longies (think wool pants) and shorties (like the name suggests, woolen shorts) and soakers (like underwear, only 2 ply knitted wool). Yea, no wicking properties. Maybe if your baby doesn't pee like crazy like mine, but try at your own risk.

Hand knit woolies - I have had mixed results with these as well. Sometimes great, sometimes not. It totally depends on the quality of wool yarn used. Beware.

Sudz n duds liquid lanolin - WAY too liquidy. I have not used their other products though, so those may be awesome.

Wool Ones Wash solid bar - it does and ok job getting the woolies clean, but doesn't touch the above mentioned bar at getting out the poop stains.

Here are a few tools to make this endeavor slightly easier:

A large wetbag for hanging in your bathroom on the back of the door handle (obviously with a handle for hanging). We use liquid for regular washing (about monthly or every couple of months) and bar (for spot treatments).

A good strong drying rack.

A diaper sprayer for spraying solids into the toilet...very nice to not touch the poop.

A good soap like planet or charlies soap. I use it ALL the time and I am bummed out because I know I need to get a good one, not the walmart specials I had previously purchased. But seriously, I don't have $500 to $8000 (Yes, you read right...no typos there) to spring for a new machine. Maybe the sewing machine fairy will kindly bestow one on me. Anyway, just needed to be sad a moment and lament my loss.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8105387869336793889.post-90970918875661087312009-07-12T11:15:00.000-07:002009-07-12T11:17:42.164-07:00Sundays are the best!I personally enjoy attending church, my children, apparently, do not. We ran out of the house this morning with no shoes for Ava and Teegan fussing to go back to sleep. I swear, it's been about a month since I've been able to be on time to church and take the sacrament. I FINALLY got it today, but then had to come home and get TG to bed...ah, the joys of parenting.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8105387869336793889.post-29176336670599197392009-07-07T13:07:00.000-07:002009-07-07T13:12:04.263-07:00Why does barf always come at 2 am?!!!Seriously, I know I am ridiculously behind on posting to my blog, however, I just needed to vent on this particular issue. Honestly....did she say to herself, "I think I'll smear this all over my body before I go crying to my parents so they are forced to bathe me at some unholy hour in the middle of the night"?

And then, my darling of a hubby went to the store at 2:45 so I wouldn't have to trudge there with barffy Ava and sleepy Teegan this morning. Ah, the joys of parenting.

And Teegan slept through all of the fiasco.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8105387869336793889.post-32022814621906844762008-12-21T22:46:00.000-08:002008-12-21T22:59:09.567-08:00Um...been a while...Well, LOTS of things have been happening for our family this past year. Received a promotion at work, moved out of our house, let friends live for free in our house, filed and received a discharge on our bankruptcy, started a daycare, stopped a daycare because we found out we were unexpectedly pregnant, back into our house, job at work no longer exists and took a $10 and hour pay cut, been to the hospital twice for the pregnancy...still paying that off (and he's not even here!), trying to renegotiate with our mortgage company so we can keep the house, you get the idea. Through it all, we are still happy and love each other. We find joy in simpler things now, not necessarily a Maui timeshare, or an expensive car, but having Ava come into bed with us at the crack of dawn and snuggle to us and say "Hi, Daddy! Hi, Mommy! What you doing?" As we crack our eyes to the EARLY morning rays. Spending time with friends and loved ones because we just aren't sure how long we'll be able to live this close. Making new friends and keeping the old. We've been extremely fortunate in that regard. Though we may not have every material thing we would enjoy having in this world and we are essentially having to start over, we are grateful everyday for the blessing we have and the joys we are blessed with. Heavenly Father is exceedingly good to us. And we have much to be grateful for.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8105387869336793889.post-39192048118571076842008-06-28T22:48:00.000-07:002008-06-28T22:53:05.655-07:00choices...So, basically, Ryan and I are faced with about a bajillion decisions to make in our lives right about now and we are really not liking this whole being a grown up thing. Poop, all of it is poop. Anyway, we are this perpetual pendulum of wishy washy and never solid in our choices. For instance, lately, we are trying to decide, with our new found financial freedom, should we move out of CA and have Ryan go to BYU, or should Cazra go back to work so Ryan can get his bachelors in CA and then transfer to BYU for a masters? Should we put Ava in daycare, should we pay grandma Cindy to watch her? Should we both work to save money and then just both move, have bunch of kids and live off of student loans? Should we eat oatmeal or bananas for breakfast? Really though, are you getting and idea for how we are right now? Please don't get me wrong, generally we just go with the flow, try to be relatively easy going and mellow, but lately...AHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Anyway, friendly advice always welcome. Love all....smoochesUnknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8105387869336793889.post-76217191725900169912008-06-25T21:55:00.000-07:002008-06-25T22:02:27.109-07:00Big things happening for the Dunford trioSo, we are making some incredibly HUGE changes in our lives at present. We have moved out of our first home and have friends living in it. We are back to renting, and actually enjoying the lack of responsibility. For instance...our a/c was barfing water out of one of the vents. It was FABULOUS to be able to call the property owner and not have to worry about it ourselves. "what's wrong?" "how are we going to pay for this?" "Great, now what's broken?" didn't even cross our minds! Anyway, we live VERY close to a trail and we ride our bikes regularly as a family.

We recently had visits from Auntie Ra and Uncle J from Utah (that would be Rachelle and Jeff in Ava speak) and we had a blast. It was great to visit with them and Ava ADORES her auntie and uncle. Now, if only we could get her to meet Ross!

We are SUPER excited about the upcoming family reunion we get to attend in Idaho. This is the first vacation (ish) experience we've had in about 2 years and we are LONG overdue. Besides, we jsut love hearing how adorable Ava is and who better to tell us than a ton of family?!

Well....until next time!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8105387869336793889.post-87841802772963934732008-03-28T22:06:00.000-07:002008-03-28T22:13:08.226-07:00Ryan and the Apricot TreeWell, the videos speak for themselves!

There will be no more popcorn on our rotten apricot tree!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8105387869336793889.post-66935173431981106292008-03-28T21:44:00.001-07:002008-03-28T21:53:04.129-07:00The best things in lifeReally

Who can argue that quite possibly one of the best things in life is watching your kid
run naked in the backyard? We had her party in Granma Cindy & Grandpa Ron's backyard with kids everywhere...pandamonium is actually the word that comes to mind. No hospital vistis, no broken bones or anything else traumatic. I do have to give a special thanks to Aania...she saved the day with cupcakes...honestly, what kind of mother am I...FORGOT the cupcakes at a children's birthday!!!

And as we all know, every party has it's pooper.
